Google removal is not the same as website removal

Google can remove eligible real or fake sexual imagery from Search, but that does not necessarily delete the content from the website that hosts it. Google now also documents optional protections for future duplicate images and related searches during eligible removal requests.

What to do

  1. Identify the search result and the source URL.
  2. Use Google’s current signed-in Image Search removal flow or personal sexual-content request when eligible.
  3. Keep a separate source-site removal case open because Search removal does not delete the host copy.
  4. When Google offers ongoing protections, review the duplicate-image and future-search options before submitting.
  5. Track the request in Results about you when available, then verify Google Search and the source separately.
A removed Search result may still be reachable directly on the source website, so website removal and Search removal should remain separate verified outcomes.
