Someone is pretending to be your creator account on Snapchat

Snapchat has different report locations for a Public Profile and an ordinary Snapchat account. Reports should identify the specific impersonation signals and distinguish deceptive identity use from merely sharing a similar name.

What to do

  1. Save the URL or visible identifier of the suspected public profile or account.
  2. Record the misleading handle, avatar, biography and any claims of affiliation without posting them publicly.
  3. For a Public Profile, use the profile menu and choose Report.
  4. For an ordinary account, follow Snapchat's chat-screen account reporting route.
  5. Select the truthful policy category and supply your authentic profile identifier if requested.
  6. If copyrighted original content was additionally copied, consider the separate copyright route only when you control the rights.
  7. Track the response and check whether the reported account remains visible.
  8. Strengthen your official profile's security and let existing followers know which account is genuine without amplifying the impostor.
Important: Reporting, acknowledgment, a platform decision, source removal, and search removal are distinct outcomes. A report is not a guarantee of removal.

Account versus content report

Snapchat's interface differentiates an account, a public profile and a Snap. Use the mechanism matching the complained-of activity.

No automatic violation

Two similar usernames do not automatically prove impersonation; explain the deceptive representation.

Common questions

Can I report an impersonating Public Profile?

Yes. Snapchat describes the report menu on Public Profiles.

Should I use a DMCA claim?

Only if a valid copyright infringement claim exists; impersonation and copyright are different grounds.

Use a coordinated case

Reclaim keeps website removal, Google/search removal, deadlines, verification and monitoring separate so one successful step is not mistaken for complete removal.
