Report an intimate Snap, Story or Spotlight post

Snapchat provides in-app reporting for several content types, including direct Snaps, public Stories and Spotlight. The location of the violating content determines which item or account should be reported.

What to do

  1. Identify whether the content is a direct Snap, Story, Spotlight item, Snap Map post or account profile.
  2. For a visible Snap or Story, press and hold the item in Snapchat.
  3. Choose Report or Report Snap and select the truthful reason for the violation.
  4. Provide the details Snapchat requests without redistributing the intimate file.
  5. For a public profile, open the profile menu and follow the separate Report profile route.
  6. If there is no safe way to use the app, review Snapchat's official web safety-reporting instructions.
  7. Record any acknowledgment and track the complaint in My Reports where available.
  8. After a platform decision, verify whether the item or account is still accessible and record the result.
Important: Reporting, acknowledgment, a platform decision, source removal, and search removal are distinct outcomes. A report is not a guarantee of removal.

Use the right object

A report attached to the offending Snap or Story generally identifies the content more precisely than a vague complaint about an account.

Privacy handling

Snapchat can ask for specific identifiers; avoid posting sensitive evidence publicly or involving unrelated users.

Common questions

Can I report a public Story?

Yes. Snapchat lists public and shared Stories among reportable content types.

What about a private chat message?

Snapchat provides separate reporting steps for chat messages; follow the relevant in-app instructions.

Use a coordinated case

Reclaim keeps website removal, Google/search removal, deadlines, verification and monitoring separate so one successful step is not mistaken for complete removal.
