Report a synthetic sexual image using your likeness

Google's personal sexual-image removal flow explicitly distinguishes genuine intimate photos shared without consent from fake or AI-generated depictions using a person's likeness. This matters because the evidence and reporting category must match the actual content.

What to do

  1. Identify the exact Google image result and its hosting page, without downloading extra copies.
  2. Open Google's authenticated image-viewer removal process or official sexual-content form.
  3. Choose the route describing a fake or AI-generated sexual depiction when that is what occurred.
  4. Provide identifying context requested by Google rather than alleging the synthetic depiction is a genuine personal photo.
  5. Include additional matching results when the form supports them and the same eligibility applies.
  6. Keep the hosting-site policy report separate from the search-delisting request.
  7. Monitor the Google request status and verify whether the image still appears in Search.
  8. Document source availability and future reappearances as distinct outcomes.
Important: Reporting, acknowledgment, a platform decision, source removal, and search removal are distinct outcomes. A report is not a guarantee of removal.

Use the correct harm category

A fabricated likeness may require a privacy or non-consensual intimate-media report, even when no copyrighted original photo was copied.

Safety and scope

Do not expose the depicted person's private details or circulate additional copies while gathering evidence. Search delisting and source takedown remain distinct.

Common questions

Can this apply to AI-generated imagery?

Yes. Google includes eligible fake sexual images that use a person's likeness.

Does submitting a DMCA claim work instead?

Only if there is a legitimate copyright claim. Do not misrepresent ownership of an AI-generated image.
